SPECIALIST PETROLEUM RETAIL CONTRACTORS

We build South Africa's fuel retail network.

Since 1999, MRW Projects has designed, developed and constructed filling stations from tender to key handover — with every trade, from earthworks to underground pump and tank work, delivered in-house.

WHO WE ARE

MRW Projects was founded in 1999 to service filling station retail maintenance, by Mark Webb, Albert Sihlangu and Quniso Motha.

In 2003, Wayne and Nicholas Webb joined the business after completing their BSc (Hons) in Construction Management at the University of the Witwatersrand, setting out to grow MRW into a recognised contractor across every brand in the fuels retail network.

Every project — from tender inception to key handover — is owned by an appointed project manager or project director, backed by five senior, standalone construction teams able to run five independent developments at once.

WHAT WE DO

Every trade required to build a service station, under one roof.

We don't subcontract wet works or finishing trades — bricklayers, carpenters, tilers and plasterers are all MRW employees, many with 15 years on the team. That's what lets us control programme, quality and cost from tender to handover.

01

Project management

Every project is led by a dedicated project manager or director — Nicholas and Wayne Webb both hold BSc (Hons) Construction Management degrees from Wits, circa 2003.

02

In-house construction

Bricklayers, concrete charge hands, carpenters, tilers, painters and plasterers are all MRW employees — many with 15 years' tenure — not subcontractors.

03

Earthworks & civils

Brought in-house in 2008. Where competitors subcontract this element, we execute it ourselves for a sharper price and tighter control of programme and quality.

04

Pump & tank services

Underground pump and tank installation added in 2017, removing a common cause of site delays and giving us control of the full KDR and NTI programme.

05

Drawing & surveying

An in-house drawing office and surveying team react quickly to site requirements and design innovative solutions for every site.

06

Health & safety training

MRW is an Intrasafe affiliate and corporate member of Saiosh, certifying us to deliver recognised, in-house health and safety training.

07

Turnkey solutions

Delivering turnkey projects since 2008 — from land and licensing through to a completed, trading filling station — as a single point of accountability for the client.

WHAT SETS US APART

What this means for our clients.

Agility

We're not reliant on the market to build capacity. Once terms are agreed, we can start fast and meet deadlines quicker than competitors who need to source subcontractors.

Cost

Without a subcontracted middleman to pay on wet works, earthworks, civils or pump and tank installs, we stay financially more competitive on every tender.

Safety

Our Intrasafe and Saiosh affiliations keep us closely tuned to industry safety requirements — clients regularly bring us in to consult on projects and site situations.

WHERE OUR WORK GOES

Fuel retail is our bread and butter — but not the only thing we build.

Over the years we've extended into Quick Service Restaurants and residential developments, though the fuels retail network remains our specialty.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which fuel brands do you work with?+
Our current client base includes BP, Engen Petroleum, Sasol, Total, Shell, Astron Energy and Puma Energy. We've completed 108 filling station projects across these brands.
Do you subcontract any of the work?+
No. We don't subcontract wet works or finishing trades — bricklayers, concrete charge hands, carpenters, tilers, painters and plasterers are all MRW Projects employees, many with 15 years on the team. Earthworks and civils have been in-house since 2008, and underground pump and tank services since 2017.
Can you deliver a project on a turnkey basis?+
Yes. We've delivered turnkey solutions since 2008, taking ownership of a project from tender inception through to key handover, with a dedicated project manager or director on every site.
How many projects can you run at the same time?+
We operate five senior, standalone construction teams, which means we can develop five independent projects simultaneously without stretching quality or oversight.
Where are you based, and where do you build?+
Our head office is in Gauteng, with satellite offices in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. Our completed sites span these regions and beyond — from Soweto and Cosmo City to Ballito, Kloof and Ermelo.
What safety accreditations do you hold?+
MRW Projects is an Intrasafe affiliate and a corporate member of Saiosh (the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health), which certifies us to deliver recognised, in-house health and safety training.
Do you only build filling stations?+
Fuel retail remains our specialty at roughly 90% of our work, but we've also delivered Quick Service Restaurant developments (about 7%) and residential projects (about 3%).
